Bike to Work Day 2009

Friday May 15th, 2009 is Bike to Work Day.  Although I do not actually have an office that I need to bike to, I will use my bike exclusively for transportation tomorrow.  Hopefully you can do the same.

Metro Is Coming to Loudoun County

It's official - the Silver Line of the Metro that will eventually extend into Loudoun County has officially been funded by the powers that be. 

The real action will start in a matter of days about 15 miles to the west, where demolition of roads and bridges and heavy construction of overhead piers will become an unwelcome fact of life during the next six years for commuters and residents of McLean, Tysons Corner, Vienna and beyond. The result, boosters say, will be worth it: a public transit system serving the region's primary international airport and Virginia's most prosperous jobs corridor.

The first phase will be completed in 2013 and will take the metro to Tysons and the second phase will be completely in 2015 and will take the Metro to Loudoun County.  Total Cost = $5.2 Billion 

Donald Trump Buys Lowes Island Club in Loudoun County

The Washington Business Journal has reported that Donald Trump has closed on the purchase of Lowes Island Club in Sterling.  The country club consists of two 18-hole golf courses.

There are plans to renovate the club over the next two years and rename it Trump National Golf Club.  Now that he has resigned from Trump Entertainment maybe he will be spending his time out here in Loudoun County.

Forbes Declares DC Best Place to Buy Real Estate in the WORLD!!!!

I have been saying that the Washington DC Metro area will be the best place to own property in the world during the foreseeable future.  Now I have confirmation from none other than Forbes that this is the case.

The article mentions the fact that the US Government is going to spend over $1Trillion in the immediate future on saving the country during the current economic crisis and that Washington DC will be the main beneficiary of this spending.

And for those of us in Loudoun County, we will more than certainly feel this surge in demand sooner rather than later as the Obama administration ramps up spending and programs focused on saving the economy.
