On Friday, the National Association of REALTORS hired a Social Media Director. The formal announcement has not officially occurred but Dale Stinton, CEO of NAR told members of the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS that the position has been filled.
Unfortunately, he did not tell us the individual's name but he did say that a formal announcement was forthcoming.
He also said that the coming out party for the new Social Media Director will be at the REBarCamp Virginnia being held in conjunction with Bloggercon 4.0 on March 3rd at the Fredricksburg Area Association of REALTORS.
Lets hope the new man is half as good as the founder of the Bloggercon Series and VARBuzz, Ben Martin of the Virginia Association of REALTORS.
I ran over to see the name!!!
Saw your tweet early today.

Hopefully the person who was hired sees this post and chimes in. Or maybe someone else knows who it is but I am not at liberty to say.

I was wondering about that the other day. Good to hear they made a decision, now they just need to announce who the poor soul is :)

Well, maybe one of the first things the new Social Media Manager can do is help Dale understand that leaking that the position has been filled but not saying by who doesn't exactly fall into the "open and transparent" mode that social media demands.
I've met Dale, he's a good man and I'll freely admit he "gets it" far more than I used to think he does. But in this case, unless he was prepared to say who filled the position, I think he should have not said anything.

Jay, I asked Dale to give me the name but he said he didn't remember it. He said Tom Something. Plus, I think I caught him offguard by asking the guys name and then he offered up the fact that he was going to have his first public apprearance and ReBarCamp VA.

whoever will be here, should have at least a heart, the dedication and good thoughts.
